Also referred to as 'zander' or 'glass eye', the pike-perch is a predatory fish that primarily hunts during the morning hours. It prefers smaller baitfish to his bigger cousin the pike.
Pike-perch can be found on big rivers and lakes. In the warmer months when they're more actively hunting, any place where there's disruption in the current you have a chance of catching them. During the colder months, pike-perch will be holding up much deeper. At this time it's harder to catch them as they're less actively feeding, you'll also need a good sinking line (and often need to fish from a belly boat) in order to reach them.

Flies
There is nothing quite as exciting as fly fishing with poppers. Seeing a fish come and inhale your popper off the surface is just awesome. The take is so aggressive that it will leave your knees shaking as you set the hook!
Flies
In the category of flies known as streamers, the Woolly Bugger reigns supreme. Its popularity comes from its versatility โ it can be used to catch a wide range of species.
