Fly fishing for garfish can be done practically around the world. You'll find them in coastal waters from the US to Europe to Asia. Their appearance might make you think otherwise: but an AFTMA 6 to 8 is recommended as they can make powerful runs, as well as do some impressive acrobatics once hooked. Regarding flies: it's primarily baitfish patterns like clouser minnows and other small streamers.
