Saltwater and freshwater pattern, imitating baitfish, used for targeting primarily the larger predatory species.
The EP Streamer is tied using a long shank hook and a combination of materials to create a lifelike baitfish imitation. The body and wing are primarily formed from Enrico Puglisi (EP) fibers, which are synthetic fibers known for their durability, translucency, and ability to shed water. These fibers are tied in along the hook shank, and then carefully layered and trimmed to create a tapered, baitfish-like profile. Additional materials, such as flash or other synthetic fibers, can be incorporated into the wing to enhance the fly's attractiveness. The final touch is a set of eyes, which can be painted, stick-on, or epoxy, giving the fly a more realistic appearance. The EP Streamer can be tied in various sizes and colors to imitate different baitfish and prey species.
The EP Streamer is designed to imitate various baitfish, such as minnows, shiners, or anchovies, as well as other prey like shrimp or squid. Its lifelike profile, natural movement, and customizable colors make it an effective and versatile pattern for targeting a range of fish species in both saltwater and freshwater environments.
The fact that EP fibers shed water very well will help with casting: with just one or two false casts the fish is completely dry again, enabling you to control it's casting and action much better then other big streamers that gain a lot of weight by absorbing water.
The EP Streamer can be used in various water types, including saltwater flats, estuaries, rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds. Basically anywhere you expect to find predatory fish. If the fish are not taking, it can sometimes help to change color, so make sure you carry multiple different colors and sizes. To fish the EP Streamer most effectively, use a variety of retrieves, changing your speed and the length of the retrieve.
