Guiding
Offering seasoned expertise in the art of fly fishing, TnT Guided Fly Fishing NZ brings you professionally led trips and learning opportunities in the Taranaki and Taupo regions, and beyond. Adam Priest, our New Zealand fly fishing guide, has a knack for luring in the hard-to-catch, brown trout of the Taranaki region.
At TnT, we cater to all angler skill levels, offering a comprehensive service backed by a meticulously audited Health and Safety plan.
Located on New Zealand's North Island's central west coast, Taranaki boasts excellent trout fishing opportunities, courtesy of 40+ originating streams and rivers from Egmont National Park. Additional rivers stem from the Tongariro National Park, further enriching this angling paradise.
Our base in Oakura situates us close to New Plymouth, allowing for numerous guided day trips around Taranaki's ringplain rivers.
Picture your fishing line dipping into clear waters beneath the slumbering Mount Taranaki. Home to abundant brown and rainbow trout, these rivers offer prime sight fishing opportunities. Despite the average trout size being around 1.5kg, you may encounter some that weigh up to 4.5kg.
The Taranaki region provides a picturesque angling experience, less marred by angling pressure, making the catch less challenging. At TnT, we endorse catch and release fishing to maintain sustainable fisheries.
With over three decades of fly fishing wisdom and two decades in the tourism sector, Adam Priest serves as your proficient guide. Adam's longstanding fishing experience and passion for ecology make him the perfect companion for your angling adventure.
Adam's early years spent fly fishing in Taranaki's water bodies sparked his enthusiasm for this pastime and his interest in ecology. His versatile career spans guiding high-profile clients at Cedar Lodge, NZ, camel trek guiding in Australia, whale watching in South Australia, and serving as an Adventure Caving Guide and Interpretive Officer.
Adam's dedication to amplifying your angling experience is unmatched, and his extensive knowledge of New Zealand's trout fishing regions is invaluable. Besides fly fishing, Adam enjoys saltwater fly fishing, fly tying, skiing, and surfing.
