From catching big brown trout on streamers, to fishing the blue waters of alpine lakes for cruising cutthroat.
Andrew and his brother, both regular 9 to 5 workers, dedicate their leisure to fishing, often running down to their local river or traveling across the country for the thrill. Their love for fishing is about the adventure as much as it's about the catch. Last summer, Andrew flew to Colorado to join his brother for an eight-day fishing expedition in the southern Rockies, capturing their journey on film.
Their adventure kicked off with Andrew adjusting to the Colorado altitude and battling a cold. Despite feeling unwell, they started fishing a nearby tributary, targeting wild brown trout. Their first day included a mix of successful catches, including rainbows and brown trout, though Andrew struggled with his health.
The following days were filled with diverse fishing experiences. They hiked challenging trails to remote Alpine Lakes, where they fished for cutthroat trout in stunning settings. These hikes tested their endurance but rewarded them with breathtaking views and unique fishing opportunities. They encountered lakes so beautiful they were beyond words, with fish that brought excitement with every catch.
On the third day, they explored another creek, enjoying the serenity and the chance to catch brook trout in less-pressured waters. The trip also included fishing for greenback cutthroat trout, a rare species once thought extinct.
As the trip progressed, they continued to explore various waters, catching a variety of trout including rainbows, brooks, and cutthroats. Each location offered its unique challenges and delights, from fishing small creeks to larger bodies of water.
The final days of their trip were dedicated to pursuing brown trout, a personal favorite. They explored backcountry and canyon sections of a river, using articulated streamers to attract the bigger fish. This part of the trip was particularly successful, with several impressive brown trout caught, each bringing its own thrill and satisfaction.
