Guiding
Join me, Henri Kiviniemi, on a journey to create lasting memories, refine your fishing skills, and connect with the natural beauty of the outdoors.
Floating and fly fishing from a raft equipped with a rowing frame presents several benefits compared to the traditional walk and wade method. This approach allows anglers to explore extensive areas of the river effortlessly, making the entire river accessible for fishing. With the aid of an oarsman, you'll be strategically positioned to cast in promising spots or towards actively feeding fish. Enjoy the convenience of bypassing unproductive water, all while taking in the stunning surrounding landscapes. Welcome aboard.
Embarking on a wilderness float trip is an essential experience for any fly fisherman, offering much more than just fishing. The thrill of latching onto a trophy trout or numerous graylings is just part of the adventure. Traveling through untouched wilderness and rugged landscapes without the presence of crowds offers an unforgettable journey. This service is a unique opportunity for seasoned fly fishermen to experience the genuine essence of the sport.
The journey spans 50km along the Ivalojoki River, optimally covered over three to four nights. On the 6-day option, you can choose a grand 90 km float. The powerful migratory browns from Lake Inari will be entering the river system all summer. Fishing is primarily conducted from the raft, with overnight camping near prime fishing spots for convenient access to wade fishing.
This trip caters to all anglers, whether you're aiming to catch grayling or pursue large trout. The Saariselkä area is surrounded by numerous streams, abundant in trout and grayling, promising rewarding catches for those willing to explore. Understanding that not all anglers can endure long distances and challenging wades, the trip is tailored to match your capabilities.
As a part-time entrepreneur and passionate fly fisherman, organizing these trips is driven by a love for the sport and the shared experience. My goal is to spend as much time on the river as possible, showcasing its unique features and introducing innovative fishing strategies. This pursuit of fly fishing not only fuels my self-development but also adds a meaningful purpose to life.
Living in Saariselkä has afforded me the luxury of having these resources at my doorstep, enabling me to deeply understand the local rivers with each season. The experiences and observations made on the water have deepened my connection to this special environment. The migratory brown trout fishery in these rivers deserves recognition as a premier fly fishing destination.
Despite the healthy condition of the trout populations, catch and release practices are not widely adopted, and the trout face pressures from commercial and recreational fishing. Oarsman fly fishing is committed to responsible fishing practices, ensuring all trout are released. This approach not only aims to preserve the fishery but also to enhance the fly fishing potential in the region.
