The Icelandic freshwater fishing season runs from early April to late October, offering a range of opportunities to target different species. In April and May, the focus is on sea trout, brown trout, and arctic char. As we approach the end of May and the beginning of June, the sun stays above the horizon for nearly 24 hours, creating an enchanting backdrop for fishing amid the vibrant spring colors and abundant birdlife that populate Iceland's pristine landscapes.
The prime season for brown trout, arctic char, and salmon generally falls in July and August, while late July to late September is the ideal time to target salmon and sea trout. As the season progresses into late September and October, anglers can continue to pursue sea trout before the season draws to a close.
