Rod Action

Rod Action

Rod action describes the flex and recovery characteristics of a fly rod when casting or fighting a fish. Actions range from slow to fast, with slow-action rods bending deeper into the rod's blank and fast-action rods primarily bending near the tip. The choice of rod action depends on personal preference, casting style, but is primarily selected based on fishing conditions: the combination of species and the location that you'll be fishing.
