Mending line is a technique used to adjust the position of the fly line on the water surface after the cast. This is done to prevent drag, which can make the fly move unnaturally and deter fish from taking it. To mend the line, an angler lifts and flips the line upstream or downstream, depending on the current, to achieve a natural drift.
